If, in an alternate universe, a female Bon Iver joined forces with Explosions in the Sky, we imagine the result would bear an uncanny resemblance to Daughter. Set in the instrumental landscape of brooding guitar riffs and dramatically scarce drumbeats, this British triumvirate are composers of soul-wrenching symphonies. Adrift in the foreground and with a frail conviction, Elena Tonra sings words that penetrate into the vulnerable depths of Head and Heart. It's tragic, gripping and at the same time cathartic, and it's pretty extraordinary, so head to Mercury Lounge on Friday 3/9 at 7PM to experience it. Details
