SANTIGOLD, M. H. OF WILLIAMSBURG 1/17

It's been since 2008 that Santigold burst onto the international music scene with her bold, genre-defying brilliance, and after a painstakingly long wait, she is roaring back with an already jam-packed 2012. Often compared to the likes of M.I.A., Brooklyn-bred Santi White gives us a lesson on individuality with each innovatively crafted layering of an impressive range of styles with heavy-hitting beats and equally hard-hitting, rhythmic lyrics. Such vision comes with a struggle to realize and satisfactorily convey her artistic identity, as is the case with her much anticipated sophomore album, Master of My Make-Believe, to be released this year. Santigold says it best with her lyrics, "Me I'm a creator. Thrill is to make it up", and for that unapologetic boundary-pushing, you would be remiss not to see this powerhouse perform at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight at 9PM. Details
